Founder of All Together Now
Kate founded All Together Now at the beginning of 2022. She leads the Hobsonville choir and the Fun-damentals choir for beginners, but is often at other rehearsals to support the team and the singers. She is a professional choir director, arranger, composer and singing teacher.
With Steven Rapana, she founded Volcanic City Voices in 2012, and was a founding director of the Everybody Sings group which ran from 2017 to 2021, and brought the choir to VoCo every year it was possible during that time. She also directed Stonefields Choir and the Waiheke phenomenon Sister Shout, also appearing at VoCo with both of these choirs.
Kate graduated in 2017 with a Masters in Music in composition, and is a member of the New Zealand Association of Teachers of Singing, and the NZCF Association of Choral Directors. She sang with the University of Auckland Chamber Choir from 2008 to 2020.
She returned to study yet again in 2022 and is undertaking doctoral research into the development of community choirs in Aotearoa New Zealand and the experiences of community choir singers. Kate is passionate about making group singing accessible to as many people as possible and supporting other choral directors to get involved in this rewarding and important work.
